Bread bowls with cheese dip have always been a hit at my get-togethers and parties!
I have included two cheese dip recipes that can be interchanged with different bread bowls. Use a pumpernickel bread bowl and you can make the bread bowl look like a cauldron!
You can't find a pumpernickel round bread bowl? No worries, buy some edible spray paint, and any bread bowl will work. Perfect for Halloween! See below for details!
The first recipe is so fun and perfect for your Halloween party this year! 🎃
The cheese dip is made on the stove and uses pimento cheese! It takes a little more work than the second recipe, but you can do it. Or use the second easier cheese dip recipe to put in your "Cauldron Bread Bowl."
Your guests will love it! I got the idea from the Food Network. It is their basic recipe with a few changes.
The second recipe is super easy and is always everyone's favorite. It has limited ingredients, so it is not complicated, and I never have leftovers! You don't warm or cook anything up beforehand, so no messy cleanup.
Also, you may want to buy smaller bread bowls, so everyone can have their own individual bowl. Not only are these individual bread bowls adorable, but they are also a safer way to serve the cheese dip at your party. 😀
You can even substitute the Parmesan cheese dip for the Hot Pimento Cheese Dip recipe for a quicker, easier, Haloween Cauldron.
The main difference is the second recipe will not look orange, since the cheese is parmesan cheese, but it still works!

*If you can't find pumpernickel bread, you can buy any hearty round loaf of bread and paint it with edible spray paint!
Buy edible spray paint at your local craft store
Directions:
*If you don't have a pumpernickel bread bowl, spray any bread bowl with a black or blackish color of edible spray paint. Follow the directions on the can.
The brand I used was Sweet Tooth Fairy Edible Color Spray
I bought it at Michele's last year.
1. First, prepare the bread bowl by slicing off the top 2 inches and hollowing out the center, leaving the walls of the bowl about an inch thick. Cut the top and insides of the bread into bite-sized cubes and set them aside.
Note: Try turning the bread bowl over (so the bottom is the top of the cauldron) and then hollowing out the "new" top. This may make the bread bowl look more like a cauldron.
2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for one minute.
3. Whisk in the mustard, paprika, cayenne, and salt; cook for an additional 2 minutes.
4. Sprinkle the flour over the onion mixture and stir to combine; cook about 2 minutes more.
5. Gradually whisk in the milk and gently simmer for 2 minutes. Add the cream cheese and stir until it melts.
6. Then add the Cheddar cheese. Once all the cheeses are melted, stir in the roasted peppers and hot green chiles. Season with black pepper and salt to taste.
7. Preheat the broiler on high.
8. Put the cheese mixture into the bread bowl, and place it on a baking sheet. Broil until the top begins to bubble and lightly brown. Serve with bread cubes and sliced yellow and red peppers to look like a fire is under a cauldron.
I was in a hurry when I made this.
It looks a little sloppy, I am sure yours will look better!
Still cute though!
Parmesan Bread Bowl Dip: (Recipe 2)
I have made this bread bowl dip for years, and it's always a hit! So good and easy, you won't be disappointed!
Double the recipe if your bread bowl is really large.
Ingredients:
-Round Loaf of Sourdough bread
-2 Cups of Mayo
-3 Garlic Cloves minced
-1/2 Package of Dry Italian Dressing Mix
-1 1/2 Cups of Grated Parmesan Cheese
Directions:
1. Cut a circle out of the top of the bread bowl with a serrated knife and pull off the top. Scoop out the inside. The easiest tool to use is your hands. Use a knife or spoon if needed. Keep on tearing and scooping until you hollow out a good portion of the bread bowl. Leave the walls of the bowl 1/2 to 1 inch thick.
2. Tear the inside into bite-size pieces to use for dipping.
3. Combine the remaining ingredients and put them into a bread bowl.
You can make the dip ahead of time and put it in a covered container. Refrigerate it until you are ready to bake it. Take it out of the refrigerator and fill the cut-out bread bowl.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour OR until hot and bubbling. Keep an eye on the bread bowl. If it looks like the top is getting too brown, cover it loosely with foil.
5. Serve with bread pieces, crackers, chips, veggies, etc.
A Bread Bowl Cheese Dip will always be a hit at any party or celebration!
